How To: FAQ

Where should I put my mushroom kit or All-in-One Bag in my house or my apartment?  Place in a cool place with indirect light away from vents, open windows or fans.  Depending on the specie of mushroom refer to our instructions on our Grow Kit box or our “How To” page.

How many days does it take for a culinary, gourmet mushroom to grow?  Depends on the specie.  Refer to the instructions on our Grow Kit box or our “How To” page.

When is my mushroom ready to harvest?  Depends on the specie, but 90% of the time, your mushroom is ready when its at its peak color.  Shiitakes will be a rich, brown and cream color.  Lion’s Mane will be white, if it yellowing, it’s dying, Blue Nevada’s will have beautiful dark blue grey tips outlining the mushroom with bluish grey stalks, Pink Oysters will be a bold pink.  If the color of the mushroom starts to fade, it has overmatured.  So, pay attention closer to maturity.  We have pics on our site showing what they should look like on each product.  Just go to https://merrymushroommaidens.com/collections/all to view what they should look like.

What do I do once I harvested my mushrooms?  You are ready to enjoy some delicious goodness!  Cook right away by sautéing or frying in butter and seasonings or place in a large paper bag then put it them in the refrigerator.  Oysters will stay for 3-5 days, Shiitakes and Lion’s Mane can stay for up to 1 to 1.5 weeks, depending on your refrigerator.
