4 lb. C.V.G. Bulk Mushroom Substrate
Elevate your home cultivation with the Merry Mushroom Maidens Non-Manure 4 lb. C.V.G. Substrate, the perfect foundation for growing your favorite non-wood-loving mushroom varieties. Handcrafted in our Missouri facility, this substrate is professionally formulated to provide the ideal moisture and nutrient balance for success.
Professional Quality You Can Trust
- Non-Manure C.V.G.: Our C.V.G. (Coir, Vermiculite, and Gypsum) blend is meticulously mixed to create the perfect structure and hydration levels that mushrooms love — without manure. Many growers prefer non-manure C.V.G. for its significantly lower contamination risk.
- Pasteurized for Success: We use top-of-the-line pasteurizing equipment to ensure every bag is professionally prepared. This process eliminates competing contaminants while leaving behind beneficial microbes, giving your colonized grain spawn the cleanest possible environment.
- Unicorn Mushroom Grow Bags: .02 Micron filter patch for optimal gas exchange.
- Generous 4 lb. Size: Our 4 lb. bags provide ample material for mono tubs or bag tech, making it easy to scale up your home hobby fast.
-
Very Easy to Use: Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, our substrate is ready to go. Its consistent quality takes the guesswork out of the preparation phase.
- Oyster mushrooms (Pearl, Blue, Pink, Golden, King) — thrive on CVG
- Wine Cap — does well with CVG mixed into outdoor beds.
- Pioppino — good performer on CVG blends
- Enoki — can work with CVG as a casing layer
- Nameko — works with CVG as a casing
- Chestnut — compatible with CVG
- Maitake— can use CVG as a casing layer
- Reishi — technically culinary/medicinal, grows well with CVG casing
-
Note: CVG is most commonly used as a casing layer on top of a bulk substrate (like hardwood or straw) rather than a standalone substrate for wood-loving species.
Product Features
- Premium Ingredients: High-grade coconut coir, vermiculite, and gypsum for aggressive mycelium colonization.
- Quality Control: Every mushroom substrate batch is tested and guaranteed fresh from our Missouri facility.
- Bag Technique (Bag Tec): A great way to grow mushrooms right in the bag. Simply mix colonized grain with the full 4 lb. C.V.G. and let colonize for fruiting. Great for small grow spaces.
- Versatile: The industry-standard mix for a wide variety of popular indoor-grown mushrooms (not for wood-loving species).
Ready to start your next project? Simply combine this substrate with your prepared colonized grain spawn in a clean environment and watch your mushrooms flourish.
Storage & Handling Guide
- Keep it Cool and Dark: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. A closet or climate-controlled dark room is ideal.
- Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Do not store in a garage or shed where it may be exposed to high heat or freezing temperatures.
- Use Within 2-4 Weeks: For best moisture levels, we recommend using your substrate within 2–4 weeks of arrival.
- Sterile Handling: Wipe the outside of the bag with 70% isopropyl alcohol before opening. Always wear gloves and use sanitized tools.
- Use the Whole Bag: Best to use the entire 4 lb. bag at once. If saving a portion, reseal as tightly as possible — sterility cannot be guaranteed once the factory seal is broken.
